Young Explorers 2020 - Week 2

The Young Explorers had a very busy and active week learning about marine biology at the aquarium. Below are a few photos from our week. 

Exploring the intertidal zone.

The Young Explorers uncovered many green crabs.

It was exciting to find this sea star under a rock!

In the lab completing drawings and observations of mollusc shells.

How many pennies can your boat hold? This was the winning boat with 79 pennies!

Doing an animal scavenger hunt around the aquarium.

Learning about sea stars and other echinoderms in the lab.

The Young Explorers found lots of rock gunnel fish and also an ocean pout! 

We got to watch the morning feedings of the wolffish,

sea ravens and ocean pouts,

and striped bass.

Learning how to prepare a slide.

Learning how to use the microscopes to observe plankton.

Young Explorers 2020 - Lobsters

We are so excited that we are able to offer our Young Explorer program again this summer! The theme of the first program was lobsters and other marine arthropods, such as crabs. Below are some photos of our fun day.
