As part of the Huntsman Marine Academy™ brand of lifelong learning, Ocean S.T.E.A.M.™ is designed to provide individual students, ages 15-18, an opportunity to attend an immersive week-long course of interest and explore future career pathways in the ocean sector. These courses are delivered by a range of professionals in their specific area of expertise Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and/or Mathematics.
This week we were happy to run our first Ocean S.T.E.A.M.™ field course, Introduction to Marine Biodiversity. We welcomed students from New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Ontario. Throughout the week students were taught by various Huntsman staff including Laura Barrett, Courtney Piercy, Nicole Waaler, Shandraya Grist, Dr. Danielle Philibert, and Dr. Claire Goodwin. Thank you also to the staff on the Huntsman research vessel, the Fundy Spray, and the staff at the Fundy Discovery Aquarium.
Please find below some photos from our week of exploring local marine biodiversity from our boat, along different shorelines, in the Aquarium, and in the lab.
