March Break - Shark Day

Tuesday was Shark Day during the March Break day program at the aquarium.  In the morning we focused on shark teeth.  The students did a dig for shark teeth, guessed what each shark ate based on the shape of its tooth, and then investigated the shark stomachs to see if they were correct.  At the end of the activity the students were excited to see and touch the real shark teeth and jaws.  The students then made a shark tooth banner to take home.

In the afternoon there were lots of rounds of Shark and Herrings (4-corners and hide and seek) and the students also did an activity to learn how shark's use their Ampullae of Lorenzini (electroreceptors) to find prey.

Throughout the day the students enjoyed interacting with the seals, watching the seal feeding, and checking out the animals and skates in the touch pools.

Below are some picture highlights from the day.
