May Video of the Month - Jelly

Last week some students from Royal West Academy made a fun discovery when they collected some sea stars from the aquarium touch tank to use in the lab.  They noticed something small had hitched a ride with the sea stars back to the lab.  Upon having a look at the hitch-hiker under the microscope it was discovered to be the ephyra stage of a moon jelly (Aurelia aurita)!  Moon jellies have a very interesting life cycle.  After the ephyra stage is the medusa stage, which is the form of jellies that we are familiar.  The ocean is such an amazing and wonderful place!  You never know what you might discover!
