Glenburnie - Day 4

The group started off the day with the Almost Amazing Race around St. Andrews, which took the students to some different historic and local sites including the Algonquin Hotel, the community playground, Kingsbrae Gardens, the old gaol, and the lighthouse.  Wow, the groups were very competitive and there was even allegations (with picture evidence) of cheating!  Tisk, tisk!  The points are being calculated as we speak and tomorrow the winners will be announced and prizes handed out.

Upon finishing the race the students had time to shop for souvenirs and visit the weekly market in the town square.  The students seemed to enjoy the curly fries and the wood fired pizza the most.

After a yummy lunch at Anderson House the students donned their rubber boots to go crab hunting at Pottery Creek.  The students were looking for the green crab, which is an invasive species along the coast.  Upon finding a crab the students measured it, determined its gender, and then marked it with nail polish.  One of the groups found over 100 crabs in the hour that we were on the beach.

This evening its lobster for supper and then the 1st annual Glenburnie awards banquet.

Looking for marine coloured plants at Kingsbrae Gardens.

A stop at the old burial grounds as part of the race.

Time at the weekly market after the race.
