Creatures in Your Marine Backyard

This spring we visited eleven Grade 4 classes to present our Creatures in Your Marine Backyard program.  The program brings marine animals such as periwinkles, sea stars, crabs and sand dollars into the classroom for a hands-on discussion about the intertidal zone.  Students learn about the challenges of living in the intertidal zone and how the animals that live there are adapted to this habitat.

As part of the program the students received new Fundy Discovery Aquarium Animal cards!

Thank you to the sponsors of the program MechMuffler, McGregor Construction, Source One Rentals and Source One Supplies!

Students getting up close and personal with the intertidal animals.

Sea stars use their suction cups to hold on.

One of the green crabs has eggs attached!

The brittle star was a favourite!

"Sand dollars are alive?!"

"This was the best day ever!"

Students receive a selection of marine animal cards at the end of the presentation.

Thank you to the program sponsors!
