Ocean Discovery - St. George

This week grade 6 students from St. George Elementary visited the Huntsman campus to take part in the Ocean Discovery program.  While here the students studied plankton using microscopes, conducted an experiment with sea stars and urchins, explored the intertidal zone, observed live animals in the lab, and enjoyed lunch around the touch tanks.

Check out some pictures from the program.

Observing a blood star in the lab.

Viewing plankton at 40x magnification.

A copepod with an egg sac attached.

Fun at the touch tank!

A sea star chowing down on some herring.

Right-side up experiment with echinoderms.

Almost flipped over!

The crab hunt is on!

Green crab!

Beautiful day to explore the intertidal zone!
