With low tide being at midday we started out the morning in the lab. The students conducted an experiment to determine the effect of temperature on the feeding rate of barnacles. It was pretty obvious that 5 and 25 degrees Celsius were not the barnacles preferred temperatures. The group also had a chance to look closer at all of the marine worms they collected yesterday.
This afternoon the weather was beautiful again and we went on a hunt for green crabs. These crabs are an invasive species and the students helped us gather data on the size and gender that are found on a local beach. In an hour we found over one hundred crabs!
This evening we will be making Huntsman t-shirts using a silk screen. Should be lots of fun!
