Northern Red Anemone

The northern red or dahlia anemone (Tealia felina) is a beautiful animal that is often found while conducting the benthic scallop drag onboard our research vessel.

Facts:

·         Is a carnivore, consuming anything dead or alive that is of suitable size, such as small fish and crustaceans.
·         When disturbed pulls in tentacles, contracts and adheres tightly to the substrate.
·         Can detach from substrate and glide along bottom.
